This follows earlier events in California on 17 Jan 2022 involving similar concerns. Local reports mention individuals like Hobby Escort Hooker Xenia operating in areas like HERNE, alongside disturbing trends like underage involvement. For instance, on 5 Mar 2022, police arrested three underage girls (aged 13-16) and three male suspects during raids on brothels in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, near Elele.

Community and Institutional Responses

Vigilante groups in Elele have even stepped in to protect police stations, citing rampant issues including prostitution. The situation is complex. Madonna University, Elele Campus, includes public health programs addressing topics like sex education and the health consequences of commercial sex work, acknowledging its presence in the community.
